BIOQUANT uses the Auto Measure tool to measure Bone Volume. Bone Volume is a special type of Area array that only measures the thresholded pixels within the preview tracing. This allows the bone itself to be measured, while excluding void spaces from measurement.

1. Clean up the bone threshold to eliminate artifacts, fill tears, etc. (see below)
2.
On the Automatic box, click Preview. The bone preview outlines.
3. If the preview outline is satisfactory, click Measure. The measured bone changes from the preview color, defualt red, to the measured color, defualt pink.
There are many Threshold Editing tools that can be used to clean up the bone prior to Preview outlining. They include:
On most fields, either the "Fill all holes in bone" or "Fill all holes but void space in bone" tools are used. Occassionally, the Erase threshold tool is used, if an artifact crossed the bone surface.
